馬貝珍珠一般係係採集完已養殖好的珍珠後，係貝殻內層插入半圓形珍珠核，珍珠層一層一層咁包住珍珠核形成半圓形。培養馬貝珍珠是在珍珠貝生命的最後階段。

珍珠色澤方面最常見有兩種，一種白色帶彩或帶銀光，另一種彩藍色。
